Hi friends! I see many of you often post pictures that you ask us to “Share if you support the troops!” It’s a nice reminder to be grateful to the men and women who risk their lives to protect us. But, while it is certainly pleasant, in truth, it probably doesn’t do much more than to…

An Instagram Wedding
In mid-August, Instagrammers @kimathomas and @colerise photographed a wedding at San Francisco City Hall with just iPhones and Instagram. The couple — @jonathanbuckley and @blynnsfbay’s — met and fell in love in SF, and they wanted a wedding day full of the things that make The City so wonderful, including a number of local start up influences. (Betabrand provided the bride’s dress; Uber supplied the transportation).
Altogether, Kim and Cole took over 550 photos of the event, and edited them all in Instagram, the majority with the Rise filter, a few with Amaro, and 2-3 with Hudson and Valencia. Kim carried an iPhone 4s, a backup iPhone 4, a charger, an SLR Mount and a 50mm f1.4, a Glif Plus and an Olloclip. To see more photos of the event, check out Kim’s blog and her Instagram photos.
During planned network maintenance this evening, an error by our team cut off traffic to a large subset of your custom domain blogs. Painfully, the full recovery took 1¾ hours to complete.
This is obviously unacceptable and an enormous disappointment to everyone working to keep your blogs fast…
Worst business apology ever. Or maybe the best. I’m not sure.
Rick Santorum has an SEO problem, but it’s not the kind of SEO problem most people have. As this Mother Jones article sums up nicely, searching for the candidate on Google (or Bing, etc) tends to return the site spreadingsantorum.com among the first few results. So if a concerned conservative (or liberal) voter tries to learn about Rick Santorum’s policy platform or Rick Santorum for president or even just Rick Santorum, said voter is instead subjected to a mental association likely to hurt Santorum’s chances of winning the Republican nomination and the White House. And that’s a problem for America.
Why? Because spreadingsantorum.com isn’t the top result.
But we can fix that.
This post contains a handful of keywords and phrases Santorum needs to own if he’s going to direct curious voters from Google to Santorum-friendly sites. Sure, it needs more (and should probably contain hostile keywords Santorum will likely buy in order to bury spreadingsantorum.com in search results), and you can add them by editing the description when you reblog it.
Which you should probably do now.
SEO games are people too.
Earlier generations have weathered recessions, of course; this stall we’re in has the look of something nastier. Social Security and Medicare are going to be diminished, at best. Hours worked are up even as hiring staggers along: Blood from a stone looks to be the normal order of things “going…
